1966 Corvettes were produced from September 1965 through July 1966 with a total production of 27,720 of which only 9,958 were coupes. |

The 427 cubic-inch engine were introduced in the 1966 model. The 1966 solid-lifter high performance engine was initially listed and labeled at 450 hp but the rating was reduced to 425 hp shortly after introduction. These were administrative decisions not related to any changes in the engine. |

Fifteen 1966 Corvettes were equipped with the M-22 heavy duty close ratio transmission which were purposed for competition and those cars are generally known to be the predecessors to the famed L-88s that arrived in 1967. |

1966 Corvette engine combinations were 327-300 hp (9,755 produded), 327-350 hp (7,591 produced), 427-390 hp (5,116 produced), and 427-425 hp (5,258 produced) |

1966 colors were: Tuxedo Black (1,190 produced), Ermine White (2,120 produced), Rally Red (3,366 produced), Nassau Blue (6,100 produced), Laguna Blue (2,054 produced), Trophy Blue (1,463 produced), Mosport Green (2,311 produced), Sunfire Yellow (2,339 produced), Silver Pearl (2,967 produced), Milano Maroon (3,799 produced), and eleven (11) Corvettes were painted non-standard colors or primer. |
